  2. faddles on February 11, 2020 at 11:26 am

    Hey. Great video!!
Ive been trying to find info on the camper to sandstone beach route. Great job documenting and showing some vid of it, ive seen the first surge channel but i heard theres 1 or 2 more onthat route, are they difficult? Any worse than the owen point ones? I was gonna take that route last year but the tides didn’t work,

  3. Claude C on February 11, 2020 at 11:26 am

I’m planning to do the West Coast Trail next year. August 2019. What month of the year did you conquer it?

  4. Niagara Adventure Club on February 11, 2020 at 11:33 am

What time of year were you on the trail?

  5. Jojo Macuroy on February 11, 2020 at 11:35 am

Love the video. I am about to do the trail in a week. Nervous but excited. Your video helped me a lot and made me feel so much better about hiking. Thanks!!!!

  7. Ryan Trousdell on February 11, 2020 at 11:36 am

  10. Ken Espo on February 11, 2020 at 11:39 am

Very well done video of your trip young fella. You told the story of your adventure very well. It is to bad that two of your group had top tap out but was certainly very understandable

  11. Gary Hendricks on February 11, 2020 at 11:40 am

I did it. It was great.
    Break a smile man!
    Great doc

  12. Paul Schonbrun on February 11, 2020 at 11:42 am

Awesome trail. I hiked it in 1976…there was this damned telegraph wire at pack height and a lot of ladders and blow downs.

  13. Active Guard on February 11, 2020 at 11:42 am

Seems like you kept saying things that would indicate you weren’t too excited to be on the trail to begin with and just wanted to complete to say you did it.

"Start at Port Renfrew cause we want to get the tough stuff over with first" (why would you want to get anything "over with" – why not experience it)
"About ready to be done with this trial"
"Gonna stock up on pop, chips, and chocolate bars. Make sure you bring lots of cash" (who goes on a 7 day hike and gets that shit you can do that anywhere. totally takes away from the experience imo)
"The long haul with the pack is difficult for me. Not fun. Super tiring"
    "So glad to be done"

You spent more times talking about how excited you were to eat junk food than talking about the beauty that surrounded you.

I’m not surprised though… this was similar to my experience went I did the trail. While me and my partner were in absolute awe of the trail and were soaking it all in, most people were only talking about Shae Monic’s/getting food at the other Ferry crossing, saying how done they were on the trail and "I’ll be so glad to get off this thing", ta- talking about how horrible the ladder parts are etc…

Why did you even go on it?

  14. Mike Y on February 11, 2020 at 11:43 am

We spent 5 nights to finish the same route from South to North back in September 2015, amazing. plan to bring kids once they are 12. We heard one guy finished the trail in 18 hours

  23. Flemming Sørensen on February 11, 2020 at 11:57 am

Nice vid, and nice trail. Did it summer 2016 with my girlfriend, three and a half days from Port Renfrew to Pacheena Bay 🙂

  24. Al R on February 11, 2020 at 11:57 am

Good vid. Standard question: what date did you do the trail? June is very different from September for example. If you put the date in your initial comment it would help. Mighta been at the start of the vid but I missed it…

  25. Rami H on February 11, 2020 at 11:57 am

Amazing! Can’t wait to someday move there for good.

  26. Jack Duffy on February 11, 2020 at 11:57 am

You made the episode sound like it really is, The pain all over, I heard one Woman complain, my hair hurts, I replied, my eye browse ake, Every evening I would just sit there, And take it all in, waiting for my food to rehydrate and heat up, Then I would look at it for an hour or two. Over.

  27. Irene Rudnyk on February 11, 2020 at 11:58 am

We should do this trail with some models and get killer shots!

  28. Planes and Bikes on February 11, 2020 at 11:59 am

well done. brings back scenes from my memories of 2013. But ah.. no need for more than 25lbs pack weight on the WCT. will be doing it again .. with 15 lbs pack

  29. Ian Freeman on February 11, 2020 at 11:59 am

2019 – Chez Monique’s no longer exists ! Also, crab at the Narrows is now $30 a pop !

  30. Winnie H on February 11, 2020 at 12:03 pm

when did you guys go?? early season, late season?

  31. RavenBR on February 11, 2020 at 12:04 pm

This is one of my favourite trails. Great footage! I was there a few weeks ago at Botany Bay when they had a swell warning. Great Waves!

  32. Franklandish on February 11, 2020 at 12:05 pm

I’m heading out on the trail next Friday! I’m also heading from Calgary to the trail, but the island is my "home" where I grew-up and I did the Juan de Fuca last year (highly recommended trail).

It’s great to see the video and get an idea of the journey ahead. Hopefully the weather will hold. I’ve been able to cut my pack weight significantly, but will bring my camera no matter what 🙂 I’ve been making my own vids (Franklandish) to get "ready"

Thanks for the video and "preview" of what I can expect (also going S->N)

  33. Bob Chang on February 11, 2020 at 12:07 pm

what camera did you use? and how was the battery life on it

  34. Charlie Skinner on February 11, 2020 at 12:08 pm

  35. supa76 on February 11, 2020 at 12:09 pm

Anyone who is interested in more WCT videos –

  36. Steven on February 11, 2020 at 12:09 pm

Cool except your family screaming making me turn down the volume and how you’re hiking with a few hundred year olds who keep falling and hurting themselves. I watched most of it..

  37. Imightberiding on February 11, 2020 at 12:10 pm

I smashed the like button. Fantastic video of your epic West Coast Trail adventure. Thank-you for the heaps of great info & advice. It’s always nice to learn from an experienced person who has done this more than once. The weather looked to be excellent the entire hike. When exactly did you do this trip?

Edit: You made this hike look easy. I know differently. I for one would not be bothered to carry a camera on a selfie stick on this trail/hike.

  38. Tanuki on February 11, 2020 at 12:11 pm

not a big deal to do it alone ?

  39. Patrick Iremonger on February 11, 2020 at 12:17 pm

Great documentary! Lots of helpful information and gives you a real sense of what the hike is actually like.

  40. Harlan Fox on February 11, 2020 at 12:20 pm

Great video! Watched the whole thing today. You put in some very good detail. When I made my video (June 2015) I didn’t cover quite as much detail as you did. Wanted my video to be around 20 minutes or so. Didn’t have my gopro then either just A Sony Nex camera. Here’s mine if you’re curious. We had no rain at all. Can’t imagine better conditions. Thanks for sharing!

  41. Chris_Wooden_Eye on February 11, 2020 at 12:20 pm

Nice I could almost smell the beach and low tide on screen. I wish I could do this trail.
