Ski Switzerland • Best Swiss ski resorts for Christmas holidays

Although Swiss ski season starts in December, sometimes many resorts don’t get enough snow to open the whole resort until mid to late January. So you need to be careful where book your ski holidays over the Christmas break, picking places with glaciers and high elevation that are more snow sure. So here are our suggestions for the best Swiss ski resorts to book over Christmas break, where you most likely to have the most and best snow at that time of year.

You are going nowhere because they are closing the lifts for the Christmas week over this Covid hysteria. They also waited until it was too late to cancel the hotels, so you can pay for the stay with nothing to do and all the restaurants closed. Thanks Swiss government.

Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. I am looking at booking my 2020 ski trip for the week after Christmas in Zermatt (yes, I am looking at booking a year out). I was concerned about snow coverage, but it sounds like you think I should be ok. My only other hesitation is that all the hotels have a 7 night minimum for the week after Christmas. I would prefer 5 or 6 nights. I will be traveling with my wife and our two sons (ages 10 and 12). My boys are good skiers, but my wife does not ski so I am worried that she may be bored if we ski 6 days. If we go for 7 nights, I think we will need to take a day or two off skiing to do something with her. Any ideas on non-ski activities in Zermatt in the winter? Thanks for the video.

I hereby nominate you for Minister of Swiss Alpine Utilization. (Which, knowing something about them, sounds like a position they might actually already have. 😉
