I love Orvis with a deep passion. Look at all the scumbag racist comments. Haven’t you ever heard of Tenkara? Oh wait you don’t know anything about fishing or quality fishing gear. Asia makes some of the best gear out there hands down. I don’t care what anyone says

How I miss U.S made fly rods specially Orvis since now they are made in china with cheap materials and insane price.

  7. Ivan Bogdanovic on January 11, 2020 at 9:04 am

I like them incredibly Orvis fly fishing rods but in spite of all the finances not yet bought any.

  8. Ivan Valentin on January 11, 2020 at 9:06 am

That’s because The Orvis though china can do it better. Cheap materials are sold for hundreds of dollars. Next time buy a cheap fly rod and you’ll see how long she will serve you.

i have loved every orvis product that i have ever owned.

Between Orvis and Sage, there’s zero reason to look anywhere else(or at anything not made in America) for your primary rods.

I’ll admit to liking TFO for backup rods though.

I just received my first Orvis rod and reel yesterday, been practicing in the backyard and just love it. Already I cast better than I ever thought I would. About ready to order another for a trout trip. I am not much of a whinner, BUT, I have a question. My reel is marked "Made in Korea" and the rod "Made in China". Are only select models made in the USA? First thing I did was remove these labels before anything else.

My Orvis Clearwater’s rod says made in China.

Make America great Again!  No imports.

  20. Ryan Mazza on January 11, 2020 at 9:39 am

@Ron Stotts, no not all orvis rods are made in the USA, their lower end models are only designed here and made elsewhere.. when you get to the access or superfine rods and up they are all made in the USA

They make pretty rods for initial look but overall quality and durability is still lacking, sad to say. Fit and finish can be improved immensely, seriously. They charge an exorbitant amount for their products! Don’t get caught up with all the patriotistic ploy in this add because Orvis stamps it’s logo to many products made overseas and rips ignorant Americans. If they can only put more effort to the overall quality as much as they do with their catalogues, their rods maybe worth buying.

Just bought one, made in China….

  23. norawydarkness on January 11, 2020 at 9:43 am

I have an Orvis Clearwater. It’s an excellent rod, casts long enough for the big grayling and trout! Absolutely amazing!

  24. Jim G on January 11, 2020 at 9:44 am

I’ve fished Orvis since the late 60’s and they never let me down.

  25. Bob Witt on January 11, 2020 at 9:44 am

I’ve been an Orvis customer for four decades and intend to continue upon this path for another four.

    Sweet!

  27. Michael Toscano on January 11, 2020 at 9:50 am

Helios…now that is my stick!  Orvis rods are beautifully crafted and have the strength of an American company employing American craftsmen and women. I am proud to throw an Orvis rod.
