Adventure photographer & family live full time on the road | Van tour of self-converted off-grid van

Jacob Moon is a freelance photographer and storyteller who designed his dream tiny home with the help of his wife Natasha. We got a family van tour of this incredible house with a full bedroom, office, bathroom, garage and beautiful kitchen. This family has lived on the road for the past couple years and have raised their daughter on the road and in the outdoors.

The story goes that Jacob was a full-time nurse and wanted to chase the dream of spending more time outside and with his family. He decided to buy and convert a 2004 Dodge Sprinter and convert it by himself. Jacob is a self-taught photographer who’s made a living traveling the world and working with some of the best out brands in the outdoor industry. Him and his family have had the opportunity to share their experiences on the road and through their workshops, social media, meet ups and blogs on each of their own personal websites.

Their Sprinter conversion is one of the best camper vans we’ve come across and is such a unique build out. The deck was recently built with recycled materials and is a place that they have attached their Roadshower, solar and light bar which also doubles as an awesome spot where they hang out. Inside they have transformed the interior to warm home with all the essentials. On one side of the van you have the kitchen with a two-burner stove and deep chefs sink. Mirroring the kitchen is the work station where Jacob & Natasha work remotely and it also doubles as a desk for their kid to work or play on. Since they don’t co-sleep with their kid, Natasha has designed a bed that can safely keep in their kid inside and looks really cool too. Below the raised bed is where they keep all their toys, batteries and gear for adventures.

For more information on their build make sure to follow their social media accounts, they are always so friendly and occasionally do social meet ups to share their experiences and connect with people.

Keep doing the things you love! If you register Democrat, and vote Andrew Yang as the next President, he’ll implement a Freedom Dividend that Martin Luther King Jr. and many others were fighting for, giving $1,000/month to every American ages 18 and over! How would that help your lifestyle? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f7sXZEyazYM yang2020.com #yanggang

How are they able to use Internet and cell phones in such a remote area? Do they have a special set up? I’m asking because I want to do that; travel and work. Thanks!

What a great way to raise your daughter experiencing travel and the great outdoors.
We didn’t have a van but we raised our daughter with the same experiences through travel and outdoors. We also noticed her personality and disposition change when we spent more time outside. We did a lot of hiking and backpacking and our daughter was always willing to take the lead on the hikes. ha ha We didn’t raise our daughter with the television or a computer as her babysitter. Fresh air, wildlife and first hand knowledge was the best way to occupy her attention.
    Enjoy ❤❤

9:20 – where is this great warm pool? How lovely!

You have a very nice van build, cleverly designed! The kiddie tent is genius! Kids love their own space and sense of room. This is a great life for a kid! However, at some point, she will need to be with her own age group and make friends at school. School teaches kids a lot about their community and other kids and how to get along, team sports, etc. Education is probably better at home, but they need to separate from parents to form healthy egos. A lot of home schooled kids are missing this separation which I think is healthy.

One word – since you spend a lot of time outdoors, wear sunglasses every time you step out and put on a hat and protect your neck from wrinkles. Also take extra Lutein supplements, eat spinach/carrots/squash for Vit A, and blueberries and kale for Lutein. When you expose your eyes to bright sunlight, you risk cataracts from eyes being too sensitive working on a laptop screen. You also need Vit A to prevent macular degeneration. Your eyes are essential as a photographer, so take good care of them. Your child needs sunglasses too, each time she steps out, and some sunblock on her neck and face. Over time, the outdoors can age your skin faster.

Where are her friends and playmates? Little ones need socialization in order to learn how to associate with others, and it is CRITICAL that they get that socialization before they enter preschool so that the other kids don’t ostracize them for not knowing how to play well with others. Seems like a great life for nomadic adults.
