Today we’re talking about free camping! In fact, we’ll be talking about 20 free camping sites you’ll freakin’ love. We loved each and every one of these sites and want to share them with you.

Free camping AKA boondocking is almost always an off-the-grid experience. This means you’ll have to come prepared with your own water, power and waste management plan.

We’re Kyle & Olivia, a young couple traveling the country full time in our 16ft vintage camper. We hit the road in September of 2015 with the goal to live a minimal lifestyle and connect with the world around us. We want to share our experiences as we learn and grow, to hopefully help others who dream of life out on the open road. Join us as we discover the joys and obstacles of nomadic life!

Ten four on the no free camp sites on the east coast. I recently spent 3 weeks camping in Tenn, and NC on my Harley. I was paying average 35 and 45 dollars per night, EEEK!
I’m from AZ, and I could camp about one hundred people for free all over the west coast. So thx for your video.

  25. StevenLuisC. on February 16, 2020 at 12:17 pm

Chanute KS has a free park with water and electric, big rig friendly, two days free and then $10 a day for two weeks if you want. Nice spot to set and rest up for a couple of days, close to stores and laundry. Head south out of there and there are several casinos on Indian reservations just accross the line in to Oklahoma with free parking and hook ups. Quite a few casinos will let you park for free, some have hook ups some are just a parking lot with a casino. I hit one on I-35 on the border with Texas and Oklahoma this year that I had never stayed at before. Free with Electric and water and septic for one day, with shuttles that ran to the casino of course. Nice park.

Who gave this a "Thumbs down"?

  32. Jessica Fletcher on February 16, 2020 at 12:22 pm

Absolutely great content. I’m curious what you do as a plan B if your travels plan for you to stay at one of the free camp sites and then you arrive to find them all full. Many of these are awesome for getting across country. I just worry about needing a backup plan as they become more public.

Hope you don’t mind me asking a personal question, but, regarding the salt damage beach camping at Padre Island, do you keep your truck and trailer well waxed? I’m wondering if the salt damage could be avoided by putting a good coat of paste wax on my rig before camping there. Thanks.
